In 2008, nearly 20% of the UK’s honey bee colonies died and in 2009 a third of the US bee population succumbed.

Einstein once famously said: “If the bee disappears from the surface of the earth, man would have no more than four years to live”. Without honey bees the entire food chain would collapse.

S'Warm was inspired by the shocking demise of the global bee population, and involved 500 National Youth Theatre members swarming for five days around London, from Battersea Power Station to Canary Wharf, in a new style of street performance.
